Magician Accidentally Decapitates Assistant with Chainsaw

The video has English commentary which explains everything. During his magic trick involving an illusion in which the amateur magician cuts up his assistant with a chainsaw, the assistant got stuck and was unable to slid out of the box she was in safely. She was trying to signal the magician but because of noise from the chainsaw and the overall ambience on the stage, the magician could not hear and ran the chainsaw down her throat, decapitating her right there before the eyes of the audiences and the cameras. The narrator then confirms that the just decapitated assistant was the magician’s wife.

There has been no one reliable enough to step up to the plate and confirm for sure whether this video is real or fake. Some say it’s fake – a re-enactment of an urban legend featured in a documentary “1000 Ways to Die”. I must say that the way magician drove the metal plate down the assistant’s throat – which is exactly the same path the chainsaw followed – makes it look fake. You would also expect some pretty significant spray of blood from the carotid arteries, however we’ve had many beheadings on Best Gore which prove that while blood loss from decapitation is significant, it is nowhere the hose-down one could see in a movie.

I honestly don’t know for sure whether the video is real or fake. I think the story in which it really happened could easily be true, though the video may be just a re-enactment for the camera. Or it could be the other way around. What do you think when you look at the video? Real accidental beheading with a chainsaw or a perfect fake?

I’d like to see a chainsaw magic trick gone bad with Chuck Norris as an assistant. The sparks would light the stage on fire as Chuck raises up from the coffin with Terminator look on his face. Many thanks to GIR for the video:

Photos of Magician Wayne Houchin After He Was Burned on Dominican TV

California magician Wayne Houchin was on a TV show in the Dominican Republic when the host doused his head in a flammable fluid which quickly caught fire. The fireball caused the magician burns to the face, neck and hand. Because the video of the fuck up went viral on the internet, Wayne Houchin released the after accident photos of burns he’d suffered. As a magician, he’d never been this famous so it only makes sense.

On his Facebook page Wayne Houchin commented that doctors who are treating him don’t anticipate his face to form any permanent scars.

The burning happened on November 26, 2012 while filming for the “Closer To The Stars” TV show. Guest host Franklin Barazarte rubbed “Agua de Florida” – a highly flammable cologne used in Santeria rituals on the magician’s head and for some reason it quickly caught fire. It is unclear what ignited the liquid.

After the incident, Wayne Houchin said it was not a stunt but “a criminal act”, however he praised actions of the TV crew for quickly jumping in to save him.

Here’s a video of the incident which was not broadcast on the Dominican TV, but leaked onto the internet anyway:

And a gallery with a few photos, including shots Wayne Houchin posted to show the extent of his injuries:

Joe Burrus Death Video - Buried Alive Performing a Stunt

In 1990, amateur magician Joseph W. Burrus nicknamed “Amazing Joe” died performing a stunt he thought would be “the next Houdini and Greater.” Laying inside a plastic coffin, Joe Burrus was buried alive under 3 feet of dirt topped by about 6,000 pounds of wet concrete. But there was a fundamental flaw to his death-defying escape from the grave – his plastic coffin was not strong enough to withstand the pressure of 7 tons of soil and concrete.

32 year old Joe Burrus performed his final stunt at Blackbeard’s Family Fun Center in Fresno exactly 64 Halloweens from the day the Great Harry Houdini died. There were 150 in the audience, including his own children – 13 year old Joey and 10 year old Joshua. After more than 10 minutes of pouring concrete into the hole, the level of concrete suddenly dropped two feet. Everybody realized that the plastic coffin had collapsed and tried to dig the magician out.

Paramedics attempted to revive Joe Burrus but 7 tons of concrete and soil crushed the magician to death. The Fresno County Coroner’s Office later said that the cause of death was asphyxia, although it was not clear whether the dirt and concrete filled in all of available air pocket or because the weight of the mixture pressed so heavily on his chest that he couldn’t breathe.
